Fall Donation 2015

4 November 2015 No Comment

Yet another jam-packed pen donation season here at Pens To People! As a follow-up to our last update, the Putney Tanzania group were overjoyed to receive the 500 pens we contributed to their cause, and they were successful in distributing those pens throughout the rural villages they visited outside the northern town of Arusha. Big thanks to Putney for coordinating such a memorable experience for everyone involved!

As the Putney group expanded educational opportunities in Tanzania, members of the charitable organization CHABHA (see full bio on Partners page) coordinated the delivery of 1,320 pens to their mission site in Kigali, Rwanda. There, the pens will be distributed to children of all ages who are affected by HIV/AIDS and simply want the same access to educational and employment opportunities that their peers have. Your pen donations will go a long way to ensure that they get those opportunities!

Last but certainly not least, Pens To People received word (and pictures!) from our friends at the Mnyakongo School Project that a large portion of the 8,667 pens donated to their organization were distributed to neighboring Tanzanian villages in need via Cycle Africa, which is a 350km cycling challenge that raises awareness for the fight against breast, cervical, and ovarian cancers. We’re incredibly proud to have provided the pens that 200+ women distributed as they biked through the most country’s most impoverished areas from Mt Kilimanjaro to the Ngorongoro Crater! See below for pictures of that mobile donation and others from this past summer, including a couple of the special people that make all of this possible. That’s all for now, stay tuned for more news about upcoming pen donations!
